A sad poem
A little bluebird stood high on the tree,
do you want to know what did he see?
The prettiest snowflake anyone has ever seen,
gently falling to the ground, right beside him.
The bluebird fell instantly in love,
he spread his wings and jumped from the branch above.
he flied and sang, doing flipity flop
but when he realised something his heart almost stopped.
“If my love falls on the forest floor
I’m going to lose her in all that white snow”.
“I have an idea. I know what I’ll do.
Forever together, just me and you”.
“I will let you land, safely on my wing
and then I’ll take you up on my favourite tree”.
He rushed to the ground, landing on his feet.
“I must do this right”. His heart started to beat.
Then he looked up, “Oh no this can’t be”!
Do you want to know what did he see?
Thousands of snowflakes falling all around,
Now his love surely will never be found.
“I will not move, untill I see her in the sky”.
I no longer care if I live or die.
The bluebird started freezing, sinking deep into the snow
But he did not move, oh no no.
He waited for his love, and that’s how he died.
Like a valiant knight searching for his bride.
And if you were there, what would you see?
The prettiest snowflake, melting on his beak.
